This Privacy Policy explains how You-R-Here ("we", "us") handles information when you use the You-R-Here website, native iPhone application, and related support (collectively, the "Service").

2. Information and Content

Your Library: The Events, Timelines, descriptions, Artifacts, narration, and other content you add to the app are stored in the app's local data store on your device. You-R-Here does not require a YRH account.

Apple Services: When private iCloud synchronization is used, Apple processes synchronized app data through your Apple account. Apple also processes App Store purchases and related purchase records under its own terms and privacy practices.

Support Information: If you contact us, we receive the email address and any device details, screenshots, files, or other information you choose to include in your request.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Provide and operate the app and website
• Display and manage your library on your device as you direct
• Determine trial and purchase access within the app
• Respond to support requests and communicate with you about the Service
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

4. How We Disclose Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may disclose information in limited circumstances, such as:

• Apple Services: Information is handled by Apple when you use App Store purchasing or private iCloud features, subject to Apple's terms and privacy practices.
• Support Providers: Information you send when requesting support may be handled by providers used to receive and respond to your message.
• Legal and Safety: If required by law or if we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of users, others, or the Service.
• Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate notice where required by law.

5. Local-First, Private Content

Your YRH library is private and local-first. The app uses its local data store as the working copy and does not require a YRH account or store your library on YRH-operated servers. If you use private iCloud synchronization, your library may also be stored and synchronized through Apple's services.

You control the Backup and Legacy export files you create. A Backup can be used to restore a YRH library, while a Legacy export is a separate read-only preservation format. If you save or give an exported copy to someone else, that copy is outside the app's control.

6. Website Data

The public website provides product, policy, and support information. It does not provide access to your app library.

7. Data Retention and Control

Your app library remains on your device unless you delete it, replace it through Backup Restore, or remove the app's data. Copies synchronized through iCloud or saved as exports are also subject to the controls and retention behavior of the locations where you keep them.

We may retain support correspondence as reasonably needed to respond to you, maintain support records, comply with legal obligations, and protect the Service.

8. Security

The app uses platform security features and is designed to keep your library private. Backup exports are password-encrypted; Legacy exports may be created with optional password protection. No storage or security method is perfect, so protect your device, passwords, and exported files.

9. Your Choices and Rights

The app provides controls for managing content and creating Backup and Legacy exports. Depending on your location, you may also have rights concerning personal information you have provided to us directly. To request help, contact support@you-r-here.com.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date reflects the effective date of the current version. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice as required by law.
